Nantucket Island is located 26 miles south of Cape Cod and is easily reached year-round by air or high-speed ferry.

By Air

By Ferry

Hy-Line Cruises ferry service is available from the Ocean Street Dock in Hyannis, Massachusetts. Parking is available near the dock for a daily fee. Hy-Line Cruises operates a high-speed passenger service aboard the vessel Grey Lady, which takes approximately one hour. Reservations are recommended. The Wauwinet offers pick up service for this ferry service exclusively.

Automobiles are discouraged on Nantucket Island, however, if you must bring a car, contact the Steamship Authority at South Street Dock in Hyannis. The car ferry takes two hours and 15 minutes and reservations are required.

Getting Around

In order to help preserve Nantucket's beauty and clean air, visitors are discouraged from bringing their cars on to the island. Bicycles and mopeds are available for rental. Taxi service is also available.

Nantucket Regional Transit Authority (NRTA)
Public transportation is a convenient alternative when you're looking to explore the island. The NRTA shuttle travels the length of the island with convenient stops along the way. All stops are designated by gray posts with red and maroon stripes. Shuttles are handicap accessible and equipped with bicycle racks. Fares are nominal and vary by route.

SHUTTLE SCHEDULE: June 1-September 30, 7:00 am-11:30 pm

South Loop: Every 15 min.
Madaket Route: Every 30 min.
Miacomet Loop: Every 20 min.
'Sconset Route 1: Polpis Road; Every hour and 20 min.
'Sconset Route 2: Old South Road/Nobadeer Farm Road; Every hour and 20 min.
